3D scanning (also called a Cone-Beam CT scan) is a relatively new technique, but has become very important in dentistry for people considering dental implants and root canal therapy.
To provide the best care for our patients our practice uses the award winning Sirona Orthophos XG 3D Scanner, which provides fast scanning times with very low dose radiation. It’s a simple and completely painless process for our patients, taking around 14 seconds per scan only! The instant results allow us to accurately assess your tooth or area of interest in the jaw bone so we can plan your treatment confidently.
Dentists have been using 2D X-rays for a considerable period of time, but the advent of 3D scanning allows us to build a much more accurate picture of what’s going on in your mouth. It also helps us complete precision work to an extremely high standard, ensuring that your dental treatment is long-lasting and reliable.
When 3D scanning has been used to assess unusual teeth or jaw related pathology, our scans will automatically get reported on by a Specialist Dento-Maxillofacial Radiologist to provide you with an accurate radiology diagnosis, at no additional cost, to ensure your peace of mind.
To find out whether a 3D scan is appropriate for you, contact us and we will be happy to discuss the procedure and book you in for an appointment if necessary.
